Aton Resources Inc., the Canadian company specializing in the exploration and development of gold and precious metal mines in Egypt, has announced the appointment of international mining expert Oscar Amigo as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of its wholly owned subsidiary, Aton Mining Inc.
Aton Taps Global Expertise to Advance «Hamama West»
This strategic move aims to accelerate the development of the Hamama West gold mine in Egypt’s Eastern Desert.
In an official statement, the company confirmed that Amigo will lead the development and on-the-ground execution of its major projects, foremost among them the Hamama West project — a cornerstone of Aton’s plans to transition into a future gold producer.
The appointment is expected to drive faster progress on engineering and construction activities and help move the company from exploration toward commercial production.
Aton Resources is one of Egypt’s leading gold exploration companies.
It holds a large concession known as the Abu Marawat Concession in the heart of the Eastern Desert — an area with a rich mining history and promising gold and associated mineralization.
The company has relied on state-of-the-art drilling technologies and advanced geological studies to assess the region’s mineral potential.
The Hamama Westmine is set to be Aton’s first major project to enter commercial production.
The site features promising gold and silver resources, alongside positive indicators for other essential minerals. Over the past years, the company has executed extensive diamond drilling and exploration programs, confirming the site’s economic viability and paving the way for building the necessary production infrastructure.
This project supports Egypt’s strategy to transform its mining sector into a key driver of economic growth and a magnet for global investment.
It also aligns with recent legislative reforms and investment incentives that have enhanced the sector’s competitiveness.
Oscar Amigo brings extensive global experience in managing mining projects and leading development in diverse operational environments, making him a valuable addition to Aton’s Egypt team.
His appointment underscores the company’s commitment to expediting its shift from exploration to production.
Through this move, Aton Resources reaffirms its confidence in the Egyptian market and its readiness to support the country’s efforts to build a strong mining industry that contributes significantly to the national economy and places Egypt firmly on the global gold production map.
