Collaboration between Egypt and Western Australia in Green Mining Sectors
Engineer Tarek El Molla, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held talks with Reece Whitby, the Minister of Environment and Climate Action in Western Australia, one of the largest states in Australia
The meeting focused on enhancing mutual cooperation in the mining sector, considering the distinguished expertise and experiences of Australian companies in this field

It also acknowledged Egypt’s active steps to reform and increase investments in the mining sector, aiming to maximize the added value of natural resources
The ministers discussed opportunities to strengthen collaboration in training and capacity-building activities related to petroleum and mining. Additionally, they addressed challenges facing the mining sector, including artisanal mining, and explored ways to address these challenges
The discussion also encompassed cooperation in reducing emissions across mining activities by expanding the use of renewable energy sources
The Australian minister highlighted the excellence of Australia’s small-scale energy networks and welcomed the prospect of sharing their expertise in this area
Reece Whitby also mentioned the existence of a Green Technologies Fund to support the expansion of sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies
He expressed openness to exploring the possibility of providing necessary funding through the fund for emission reduction projects in the Egyptian mining sector
