Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, continued his intensive meetings in the Australian city of Perth to strengthen efforts aimed at attracting more mining investments to Egypt.
Egypt Backs Capital Drilling’s Expansion
During the visit, the minister held an extensive meeting with Mr. Jamie Boyton, CEO of Capital Drilling, and Mr. Bryan Rudd, the company’s Executive Director.
Capital Drilling is considered one of the most prominent mining drilling companies operating in Egypt.
Throughout the discussions, the minister emphasized his commitment to closely following the plans of global companies already active in the Egyptian market.
He also explored new opportunities that could support the company’s expansion within the mining sector, especially in light of the major reforms the state is implementing to create a more competitive and attractive investment environment.
The talks addressed Capital Drilling’s plans to expand into new areas.
These include projects focused on the exploration and development of phosphate resources, along with providing integrated mining services covering drilling, operations, and site management.
Company officials also highlighted their growing interest in entering new gold exploration projects in the southern Eastern Desert—an area witnessing increasing exploration activity in recent years.
In response, Minister Karim Badawi expressed strong support for the company’s expansion plans. He affirmed that the ministry is ready to provide all necessary facilitation measures to accelerate the company’s entry into new mining activities.
These facilitation steps include granting access to updated geological data, organizing field visits to promising sites, streamlining operational procedures, and enhancing direct communication with relevant authorities to remove any potential obstacles.
This cooperation forms part of the government’s strategy to increase the mining sector’s contribution to the national economy.
The strategy focuses on attracting global companies with advanced technology and expertise capable of adding real value to Egypt’s mining industry.
The meeting also reflects the government’s commitment to developing the sector comprehensively and transforming it into an industry capable of competing at both regional and international levels.
The Ministry of Petroleum’s collaboration with companies such as Capital Drilling represents an important step in building a strong and modern mining sector.
Such partnerships help introduce advanced drilling and exploration technologies and promote the optimal utilization of Egypt’s mineral wealth, ultimately enhancing state revenues from this critical sector.
