Egypt to Showcase Mining Opportunities to the World at 2026 Forum
The meeting was held as part of preparations for the upcoming edition of the forum, which is scheduled to take place under the patronage of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on September 28 and 29, 2026, in the New Administrative Capital.
Badawi said Egypt’s mining sector is currently witnessing a qualitative transformation, driven by a broad package of legislative, regulatory and institutional reforms implemented through cooperation between the government, parliament and the private sector.
He noted that these reforms have enhanced the attractiveness of Egypt’s mining sector to both local and foreign investors. They have also placed the sector on a more competitive and sustainable path, in line with the state’s objectives to maximize the economic return from mineral resources.
The minister stressed that improving Egypt’s ranking in global reports and indicators related to mining investment is a top priority for the ministry.
He added that this has a direct impact on building investor confidence, facilitating companies’ access to finance, expanding international partnerships and increasing investment flows into the sector.
Badawi pointed out that the success of the mining industry depends on an integrated system that includes mineral resources, energy, modern infrastructure, and an attractive legislative and investment environment.
He affirmed that Egypt has made tangible progress in developing these pillars over the past few years. He also emphasized that continued dialogue and cooperation with investors remain essential to maximizing the benefits of these reforms and presenting them effectively to the global mining community.
The minister explained that the new vision for the Egypt Mining Forum is based on the concept of an “integrated mining ecosystem.”
He said this vision goes beyond traditional mining activities to cover the entire value chain, starting with exploration and geological research, moving through development and production, and extending to mining industries, local manufacturing and maximizing the added value of mineral ores and resources.
Badawi added that the forum has become an important international platform that brings together all stakeholders in the mining ecosystem.
These include mining and exploration companies, financial institutions, government bodies, technology and service providers, experts and academics.
He said the forum supports the exchange of expertise, showcases investment opportunities and helps build new strategic partnerships capable of driving the sector’s growth in the coming years.
The minister also underlined the importance of including technology, innovation, digital transformation and environmental sustainability on the forum’s agenda.
He said these pillars have become key elements in developing the modern mining industry and strengthening its competitiveness at the global level.
Badawi further stressed that investment in human capital is one of the main pillars of the strategy to develop Egypt’s mining sector.
He directed that dedicated sessions be organized to focus on skills development, capacity building, talent attraction and preparing qualified professionals capable of leading the future growth of the sector.
During the meeting, the Executive Committee reviewed preparations for the new edition of the forum.
Participants confirmed that the Egypt Mining Forum has continued to grow rapidly since its launch in 2022.
The 2026 edition is expected to be the largest in the forum’s history in terms of international participation, number of investors, global companies, sponsors and official delegations.
The upcoming edition is set to witness the participation of several ministers, senior international officials, chief executives of major mining companies and global financial institutions.
It will feature around 15 high-level strategic sessions, in addition to government and investment delegations from countries taking part for the first time.
The forum will also include a technical program comprising around 10 main sessions, with the participation of more than 40 speakers and experts from Egypt and around the world.
These sessions will discuss mineral exploration, mining value chains, sustainability, modern technology, local manufacturing and maximizing added value.
The forum will also feature roundtables, bilateral meetings and an accompanying exhibition showcasing the latest technologies, solutions and services supporting the mining industry.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources thanked the members of the Executive Committee and strategic partners for their continued support for efforts to develop Egypt’s mining sector.
He affirmed that the success of the Egypt Mining Forum 2026 will represent a practical reflection of the active partnership between the government and investors, and a key support for Egypt’s vision to build a modern, competitive mining sector.
