Engineer Tarek El Molla, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, emphasized the significance of localizing a specialized industry in the field of mining in Egypt
Localization of the Mining Industry in Egypt
He stressed that this goal is a pivotal component of the mining sector development strategy launched by the ministry in 2018. Minister El Molla points out that this strategy opens new avenues for investment, highlighting that the presence of comprehensive testing laboratories for examining gold and essential minerals
in Marsa Alam is a crucial step towards achieving the goals of industry localization and enhancing the skills of professionals in the field
During the opening of the MSA LAB and his visit to the ALS laboratory on the sidelines of his inspection visit to mining sites in the Eastern Desert in Marsa Alam, Minister El Molla affirmed the government’s commitment to creating an attractive investment environment and supporting the mining industry in Egypt to increase its contributions to the national economy
It’s worth noting that during the Egyptian Mining Forum in July last year, the Egyptian General Authority for Mineral Resources signed an agreement with MSA LAB to enhance the capabilities of workers in mining laboratories by training them in comprehensive testing of gold and essential minerals in soil, rocks, and drilling samples in Marsa Alam
MSA LAB is a specialized company in the field of geochemical laboratories, offering advanced services to the mining industry using sophisticated techniques for analyzing gold and essential minerals, along with laboratory management systems
During the inspection tour of the ALS laboratory, the minister witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian General Authority for Mineral Resources and ALS Egypt, part of the internationally accredited Australian laboratory services group. The geological protocol was signed by Yasser Ramadan, the head of the Mineral Wealth Authority, and Ali Ba, the director of ALS laboratory in Egypt
The protocol aims for ALS Egypt to conduct annual training courses on sample preparation techniques for employees of the Egyptian General Authority for Mineral Resources at the company’s sample preparation laboratory in Marsa Alam. Additionally, it involves sending training missions to employees in the company’s laboratories in Ireland and Romania to transfer international experiences to workers in the Egyptian General Authority for Mineral Resources
The laboratory also provides services for the preparation of various sample types, including rocks, rock slices, drilling cores, trenches, and other diverse samples
