The meeting was attended by Engineer Khaled Mortagy, Head of Capital Limited in Egypt; Tim Strong, Executive Director of Australia’s Marvel Gold; and Timothy Livesey, Mining Manager at Ritz Mining.
During the meeting, the Minister affirmed that Egypt’s mining sector is entering a new phase through a more investment-attractive framework based on clear and stable legislation, the provision of reliable geological data, accelerated procedures, and suitable incentives for major, medium-sized, and emerging companies operating in exploration and mining activities.
Badawi noted that the implemented reforms included developing the role of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority to become an independent economic entity capable of supporting investors with geological data and technical services. He also highlighted the application of the new regulatory framework and the activation of the one-stop-shop mechanism to facilitate dealings with government bodies connected to the mining value chain.
The Minister explained that the modern airborne geophysical survey project represents an important step toward providing more accurate geological data on promising areas. This, he said, would help investors make better investment decisions and increase the chances of achieving new discoveries, particularly as Egypt possesses significant mineral potential that has not yet been fully exploited.
For their part, the company officials expressed their interest in investing in Egypt during the current phase, stressing that they have been closely monitoring the investment environment in Egypt’s mining sector for years. They noted that the timing has now become appropriate to enter the Egyptian mining market strongly, given the positive transformations taking place in the sector, including the modernization of investment systems, the introduction of new incentives, the availability of more reliable data for investors, and the facilitation of procedures.
The officials further emphasized that combining modern geological data, advanced technology, and fresh investment could contribute to achieving significant results and promising gold discoveries in Egypt. They also praised Egypt’s rich geological potential and the major opportunities available in its mining sector.
