The participation came as part of a coordinated effort aimed at promoting investment opportunities in Egypt’s mining sector and expanding cooperation with leading African and international mining companies.

Egypt’s participation was showcased through the Egyptian Mining Sector Pavilion at the conference’s accompanying exhibition, which attracted strong interest and active engagement from mining investors.

This momentum reflects growing attention to the Egyptian market, driven by its geological potential and promising opportunities supported by recent regulatory and legislative developments.

The event also featured a series of meetings with representatives of mining companies and regional organizations, including the President of the African Villages Union and several gold mining companies operating across the continent.

Multiple parties expressed preliminary interest in exploring Egypt’s investment landscape and understanding the mechanisms for market entry.

In this context, Harmony Gold, one of South Africa’s largest gold mining companies, demonstrated clear interest in assessing the investment opportunities on offer.

The company requested detailed information on targeted areas and the newly introduced contractual models, underscoring the growing confidence of major players in the current direction of Egypt’s mining sector.

In parallel with these engagements, preparations are underway to hold virtual follow-up meetings with interested companies to present the new exploitation agreement models and recently approved investment incentives.

These steps aim to attract direct foreign investment, enhance the sector’s competitiveness at both regional and international levels, and support the expansion of exploration, prospecting, and development activities.

The participation also included close monitoring of the strategies and interests of mining companies operating in South Africa with regard to the Egyptian market.

This will feed into a comprehensive report outlining meeting outcomes and investor perceptions, helping to shape a more targeted approach to promotion and engagement in the coming period.

This outreach was carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Egyptian Embassy in South Africa, which played a key supporting role in organizing Egypt’s presence at the conference and facilitating meetings with relevant stakeholders.

This cooperation significantly enhanced the effectiveness of the participation and expanded networks with decision-makers and investors across the African mining sector.

Overall, the participation reflects a practical move toward strengthening Egypt’s presence at specialized international forums and establishing direct communication channels with investors.

By clearly presenting opportunities, mechanisms, and incentives, Egypt is laying the groundwork for a new phase of partnerships and investments in its mining sector.

The meetings were attended by Dr. Hany Mostafa, Chairman of Shalateen Mineral Resources Company; Dr. Abdel-Meguid Mohamed, Vice Chairman of the company; Eng. Amgad Ghoneim, Chairman of WadiCo; Dr. Sherif Ghoneim, Exploration General Manager at WadiCo; and Dr. Tarek Khater, Head of the Central Administration for Geological Survey.
