Site Preparation: Once a potential gold deposit is identified, the site needs to be prepared for mining operations. This may involve clearing vegetation, building access roads, and setting up infrastructure for mining activities

Extraction: There are different methods of extracting gold depending on the nature of the deposit. The most common methods include open-pit mining and underground mining. In open-pit mining, large-scale excavation is conducted to extract the ore. In underground mining, tunnels and shafts are created to access the gold-bearing ore

Crushing and Grinding: The extracted ore is crushed into smaller pieces and then ground into a fine powder. This process increases the surface area of the ore, making it easier to extract gold particles

Gold Extraction: Gold can be extracted from the crushed ore through various methods. The most commonly used method is cyanidation, where a weak cyanide solution is applied to the ore to dissolve the gold. Other methods include gravity separation, flotation, and amalgamation

Refining: The gold extracted from the ore is often impure and requires further refining to remove impurities. The most common method is the Miller process or the Wohlwill process, which involves electrolysis to purify the gold and achieve a high level of purity

Smelting and Casting: The purified gold is then melted in a furnace and cast into bars or ingots, known as doré bars. These bars are typically sent to a refinery for further purification or used for manufacturing jewelry and other gold products
