Yasser Ramadan Oversees Graduation of Technical Talents to Advance Egypt’s Mining Sector

23 specialists complete GIS training program in cooperation with Esri North Africa during EGYPES 2026

In a fresh step underscoring Egypt’s commitment to modernizing its mining sector, Geologist Yasser Ramadan, Chairman of the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority, attended the graduation ceremony of 23 technical professionals who successfully completed a specialized training program in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Technical Talents to Advance Egypt’s Mining Sector

The program was delivered in cooperation with Esri North Africa on the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show and Conference (EGYPES 2026).

Capacity building and digital transformation

The initiative forms part of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to advance Egypt’s mining sector.

The strategy is built on several key pillars, most notably human capital development, digital transformation, and the enhancement of technical and administrative performance.

The training program reflects the ministry’s continued focus on investing in people as the cornerstone of sustainable sectoral development.

It also highlights the importance of preparing qualified technical personnel capable of keeping pace with global trends in mineral resource management and digital mining solutions.

Advanced GIS applications for better decision-making

The program focused on strengthening participants’ capabilities in spatial analysis and the use of ArcGIS applications.

These skills are essential for improving the management of geological and spatial data, while also supporting more efficient planning and better-informed decision-making across mining activities.

Speaking during the event, Yasser Ramadan stressed that capacity building remains one of the core pillars of the mining sector development roadmap.

He said that upgrading the technical and professional capabilities of national cadres has a direct impact on data quality, analytical accuracy, and faster decision-making, all of which contribute to improving the sector’s competitiveness and reinforcing its ability to attract further investment.

A continuous development pathway

Ramadan noted that the training program should be seen as part of a broader and ongoing development track, rather than a standalone step.

He added that advanced training phases for a number of participants will continue through the end of June 2026, with an expanded focus on advanced spatial analysis applications and remote sensing technologies.

According to him, this approach is designed to support the localization of modern technologies within Egypt’s mining sector and to build qualified national talent capable of working with advanced digital tools in line with the sector’s future requirements.

Aligned with Egypt Vision 2030

The Chairman further emphasized that human capital development is part of a wider vision aimed at transforming mining into a sector that is more attractive to investment and more capable of supporting the national economy.

He noted that these efforts are fully aligned with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, digital transformation, and maximizing the added value of natural resources.

Senior officials and industry partners in attendance

The event was attended by Hazem Hemeida, Chief Executive Officer of Esri North Africa, alongside a number of senior officials from the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority and members of its board.

Also in attendance were Dr. Mohamed El-Bagoury, Supervisor of the Ministry’s Central Administration for Legal Affairs, and Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Chairman and Managing Director of Cargas.

The strong presence of government officials and private-sector partners reflected the importance of cooperation between public institutions and specialized technology providers in supporting modernization plans and preparing Egypt’s mining sector for a new phase driven by knowledge, technology, and qualified national expertise.
